Not to burst your bubble but I thought that the Pistons were no longer showing on Locals and that FSN had bought all the rights up starting next season? Maybe that only applies to the Detroit area...
This would be kinda hard to do with all the redwings and tigers already on fsn. Maybe they will just make fsn plus a full time channel.Redlinetire said:Not to burst your bubble but I thought that the Pistons were no longer showing on Locals and that FSN had bought all the rights up starting next season? So do you know anything about 41 going live? Why do they include wxsp in all the discussions if in fact nothing will change with the signal transmission? I'm optimistic that they are up to something. We will wait and see. And by the way I don't feel lucky to have it anymore after 6 years. Real markets have all these channels. We need to hurry up and get our local cw up and running also. We have been getting screwed in this market for years ever since they took wkbd from us back in the day.bonscott87 said:WXSP is not available in HD. It's only a subchannel on the main WOOD TV OTA feed and on low power repeaters around the area. Frankly we are lucky it's on DirecTV in SD at all. And the main reason for that was 6+ years ago when our SD locals went up WXSP had something like half the Tigers, Pistons and Red Wings games. They no longer do.
Hopefully FSN + will be in HD also. April and May is the time when all 3 sports teams play on the same days(on occasion) so maybe FSN can add an extra HD channel.millertime said:This would be kinda hard to do with all the redwings and tigers already on fsn. Here's a link describing it. It actually just says they 'locked up the rights' - so again, maybe it just means Detroit will see it on FSN and they'll continue the other agreements as before. Haven't seen much since this announcement:millertime said:This would be kinda hard to do with all the redwings and tigers already on fsn. Maybe they will just make fsn plus a full time channel.
You should stop by our HD local thread on AVS. WOOD engineers (and other stations) post there. We're very active, over 6000 posts in the current thread.millertime said:So do you know anything about 41 going live? Very nice response.bonscott87 said:You should stop by our HD local thread on AVS. WOOD engineers (and other stations) post there. We're very active, over 6000 posts in the current thread.
TV8 posted (if I remember correctly) that LIN signed an agreement with DirecTV to carry HD versions of WOOD, WOTV and WXSP. Only WOOD is up. No discussion has been made of WOTV (41) probably because there already is an ABC up and it's just a duplicate. Frankly waste of bandwidth to have 2 ABC stations in HD. But, after the next sat goes active perhaps it will get added. He stated (as I summarized above) that there is no HD signal for WXSP but the agreement allows for DirecTV to carry it should they do one in the future. Right now there is no HD content for them to carry (or not much more then a couple hours a week) and thus it's not worth it getting it's own primary OTA signal (it's just a subchannel). However it was mentioned that once the analog cutoff happens they may look into doing a full digital WXSP for the area and it would have HD capability if there is anything in HD to show.
Hope that makes sense. Basically ask your question in that thread and I'm sure TV8 will answer back within a few days.
