Ok heres my dilemna , right now comcast is hitting me almost $230 for internet and tv a month, and this has to stop.

After looking over directv and dish I decided dish was a better bang for the buck.

I tried talking to dish but they claim to not support more then 4 recievers per account. Weird one I suppose but don't they understand people have large families still wont watch the same tv ?

Any way my problem is I have 5 tv's. 3 HD 2 SD (yeah i spoiled my kids last christmas). My wife loves the comcast dvr and I love my hd and dvr too.

I need some suggestion on setups since dishnetwork has refused to install it for 5 tv's.

I looked at the maps for the dish 1000 but it seems the boston ma. area can not use that satellite dish. I would probably need a 2nd dish aimed at 61.5 (don't know how because of some tree's that are to the left of where I would aim the 110/119 one(previous owner had dish but only a 500 dish).

I would like to set it up so that when an installer comes he can aim the dish/dishes if needed and just put in the switches.

Heres what I have come up with so far. Any changes would be welcome.

1 x 622
2 x 211
1 x 311 or
2 x 111 (are they still available ?)

dish 1000 i hope but I think that won't happen. Second dish may be out of the question also. A dp44 ? So I could run only one cable per dual tuner box ?

I would probably buy each reciever except the 622 (unless I can find a cheaper one then dishnetwprks current price).

I think the Hd platinum package would be an ideal fit since every one watches different things at the same time in this house.

Now questions , does dish charge per hd reciever the hd fee ? Do they charge per "tuner" or per reciever box ?

It has to beat the $12 hd outlet charge on comcast per hd box, and $10 per dvr. If I own the boxes do they charge me a cheaper fee per the boxes I own ? If not Am I better off buying them or leasing ?

Thanks in advance for any input. :) and no comments about spoiling the kids ;)

You can lease a 622 and buy another one that will cover 2 HD TVs and 2 SD TVs and then get a 211 for the other HD TV.

Platinum is the way to go as you seem to be able to afford it. You'll get all the channels and will avoid some fees.

Dish will charge either a lease fee or extra receiver fee if you buy the receiver so no advantage there.

Ok i noted that it would be nice to save that.

Any ideas on what they would have to do as far as 2 dishes or 1 or what not ?
The D500 pointed to 110/119 would get you the SD programming and some HD Channels. You will need a second dish pointed to 61.5 to get the Boston HD locals. That would also give you the rest of the national HD channels.

You can lease two 622s and a 211. You'll get the first 622 and the 211 free after rebates. The second 622 will cost $199- lease. There'll be two $5.98 and two $6 per month fees for them but if you get Platinum I believe they wave the fees. You'll be so much happier with the 622s over the cable DVRs. The two 622s will work as DVRs for two HD and two SD TVs.

Ok man I gotta say this, I want DISH. BUt my god is it hard to just subscribe to the service.

One of my kids Had service in 2002 and cancelled it 0 balance and all But the phone number is still in their system. I can't seem to actually get to some one who can give me an estimate of what my monthly bill would be and what I would have to pay up front.

Hell I can't even get to a human there! Is this how they are ? If this is common maybe I will just stick to comcast and turn off all my premium services. This is absolutely crazy.

Does any one know a decent local dealer for the boston ma area ?

DO NOT USE CSR'S - go through the TECH SUPPORT. They know what they are doing.

Use a cell phone number for your account.
