Since Dish no longer offers GOLTV I am switching to DirectTV. I know nothing about satellites, degrees, or whatever. My question is do the DirectTV dishes point in the same general direction as Dish Network dishes? I'm not getting HD only SD. The reason I am asking is because my Dish (dish) points to an area in my backyard that has a hell of a lot of big trees to the right. The rear of my house faces directly south which is covered in trees. SSE is open sky. The dish is pointed in a SSE direction. Where will DirectTV's dish point? I'm in MD.

If you don't have any signal problems with Dish you'll be fine with DirecTV. The main sat location is at 101 which is higher in the sky and just a but more easterly then Dish's birds at 110 and 119. So most likely no issues with those trees.
Most likely the D* tech will just take the current dish off and place his on there.

Maybe I have the dishes mixed up then. I thought the SD dish pointed SSE and the HD dish pointed SSW. I have a dish at each end of my house because the D1000 would not work due to trees. I would have to mount the dish in the front yard. Sounds like I'll be ok. Thanks for the input.

One last question. Should I just call direct or go through a reseller?

Just give DirecTV a call, they will be glad to take care of you.
