SWM-5 question

Quick question... I currently have a SWM-5 feeding a HR-20 and HR-21 via the SWM ports. Obviously this is using 4 of the 5 tuners on the SWM side. I also am feeding a R-15 in my family room via the two legacy ports. My question is... if I replace the R-15 with another HR-21, can I still use the two legacy ports (and existing dual cable runs to the family room) to feed the HR-21? I would like to avoid having to further complicate things by adding another switch etc. Does this make sense? In essence, my question is... is there any reason why a HR-21 will not function with both tuners with two cables from the legacy ports?

Today:
SWM output to HR20
SWM output to HR21
Legacy 1&2 outputs to R15

In question:
SWM output to HR20
SWM output to HR21
Legacy 1&2 outputs to HR21

Thanks in advance!

I don't see any reason why this would not work. I am currently running 6 tuners on my SWM5 and all of the receivers are SWM capable.

My setup is like this:

2 HR21's on the SWM ports
1 D12 on an SWM port
1 D12 on the legacy

and it works like a charm
The legacy ports will not pass any of the MPEG4 hd channels so while you can use an HR21 on them it will effectively be hooked up to a 3lnb dish and only get SD and the MPEG2 hd as long as it's still around.

You will either need to get a second multiswitch and run it in parallel or cascaded with the SWM5 or upgrade to a SWM8 to run the new hr21 off the swm port.
As Evan said it will not pass the national MPEG4 channels off of the legacy outputs.

Also the setups he mentioned will work but if you do use a multi-switch too make sure it is a Zinwell WB68.
Great advice guys... that is the one thing that I did not think about... MPEG4 channels. Time to upgrade the switch or cascade as mentioned above. Thanks again!
I have an WB68 with an SWM5.

So the 4 cables to the dish go to the WB68. 4 of the outputs go to the SWM5.

This then gives me 4 ports on the WB68 to go to any receiver including an HR21 using the BBCs. Then the SWM5 gives me the 2 legacy ports and the 2 SWM ports. It's a bit messy but it works so I'm not going to pay for an SWM8 at this time. As my father taught me, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Very similar, I have a WB68 and an SWM8, but I am running them in parallel so I have all 8 outputs of the WB68 available. I have also run them the way bonscott87 is configured and it worked just fine.
