I know this has been discussed ad naseum but I can't actually find an answer, just discussions so if this annoys everyone or most, I do apologise up top, and if this is in the wrong forum, I apologise again.

I'm in a Motorhome and this is how it's connected now:

Dish outside about 15 feet from the rig, the SWM-8 is hanging on the dish, the Sig1 line runs to a jack on the outside of the rig. On the inside is the PI, which then runs under the carpet to the other side to the IRD. All is well. The OTA signal is a foot from the PI and not connected - yet.

What I wish to get is advise on is this: I want to be able to run the one sig cable from the PI side with both the OTA and Sat sig in it and split it at the TV. I need to split the OTA before I do so I can keep an outlet on that side.

I'd rather pop the OTA in before/after the PI. If I do which diplexors are the best to combine/split the signal and is it best to do so after or before the PI.

If you are using a SWM-8 and are not using whole-home viewing (and I doubt you are, this being an RV) the proper thing to do is to run the OTA line into the OFF-AIR port on the SWM. If that is not possible, the following diplexer will for for you:

That said, I have to respectfully wonder why you are looking to diplex. You will need to split the signal back out again at the IRD so it can go in two different ports.

My guess is so he doesn't have to tear up the carpet to run another coax underneath.

I'm with you though, I think hooking the OTA antenna into the SWM might be the easiest for him if his antenna can be mounted on or near the same pole as his dish.

The reason for this, is that the OTA Antenna Input are plumbed on one side of the rig, and the IRD/TV/BluRay etc., are on the other, soooo as a quick hook-up I ran an RG-6 under the carpet from one side to the other, rather then through the ceiling.

Let me get this correct, the above Diplexer would sit after the PI and at the receiver?

If I wanted to inject the OTA before the PI, the only way would be into the SWM-8?

Correct, but a small problem with attaching to the SWM-8 is that the output from the OTA is on the inside of the rig, which means I'd need ANOTHER connection drilled/cut/tore through the rig. Which is why I asked if I could do it just after the PI which IS on the inside of the rig.
