All, I have Whole Home installed. I have 10 receivers. 6 HD DVR's, 4 HD Receivers. The install set up included 2 1x8 splitters, with 3 DVR's, 2 Receivers on each splitter, consuming all 16 ports.

When using whole home and multi-room viewing, I can only "see" DVR's that are on the same splitter. The SWM 16 advertises that all 16 can be shared for MRV using the SWM16-2 1x8 Splitter configuration.

Config=
Dish->4 wire to SMW16->1 wire to 1x8 splitter, 1 wire to 1x8 splitter. Each splitter is connected to 5 receivers using all 8 ports.

Why can I NOT see receivers in the other splitter? Directv website says I should, some SWM-16 doc says I should, some techs say no, my installer says no, only 8 tuners max can be seen by Whole Home..

What gives?

Don't know if this is the cause of your problem, but you only need one coax to each DVR. And yes, your should be able to see all six DVRs on your playlist.

Yes, the SWiM-16 has an internal DECA crossover bridge, so all the DECA nodes on one splitter should be able to see through to the other side and vice-versa.

But there's something strange in your setup description. What do you mean by "5 receivers using all 8 ports?"

If its 5 receivers then it should be only 5 ports used on each splitter, for SWiM not counting any additional coax run on one or the other splitter for a CCK or something.

When you say you can't see all of your DVRs, are you talking about seeing them in the whole-home status screen or are all the recordings not showing up in your playlist?

I think the number of DVRs that show up in the whole-home status screen is limited but all of the recordings should be available in the playlist.

Only the H/HR24/25/34 have the internal DECAs for networking, so if you have older receivers, they'll need additional DECAs.

the 5 lines are going to 3 HD DVRS and 2 HD RECEIVERS, which take up 8 ports.

Correct, the newer models do not have DECA's connected, the older models do.

1 HR21 - This has a DECA on it
2 HR22 - These have DECA's on them

That is incorrect, the status list and the playlist are the same, only the recordings from the 3 remote receivers show in the playlist.

DISH-->SWM16-->
out1--to--> 1x8 wide band splitter-->(HR22, HR22, HR21, H24, H24)
out2--to--> 1x8 wide band splitter-->(HR24, HR24, HR24, H24, H24)

All green labels, power inserter connected, new LNB installed on dish, HR21, HR22's have deca's on back. All unused ports terminated with 75ohm terminators.

In whole home, the receivers only see DVR's in the same output.

Otherwise, everything is working as advertised without any problems. It is "balanced" per the "tech".

I would go to each of these and on the front panel, press both the guide & right arrow buttons at the same time.
This will bring up a menu with coax on the left.
Select coax and the screen should look like this [but with more devices]

These lists/screens should show the same devices, but if they don't, it will show which are on what network.

Not sure if this matters but I would like to add that the 1x8 splitters have a total of 15 wires output into my home and 1 port terminated at the splitter. Five of those wires output from the splitter are terminated at the end of the wire (as opposed to the splitter). The other 10 terminate as installed at the specific receiver. The tech told me when he pulled out the 2nd wire from the back of the receivers, he terminated them at that point with the 75ohm terminator cap.

He did not install the Internet connection kit.. but I do have a few wired. If installed, and I presume if the deca was working, I would see IP network access across all by virtue of the multiswitch.

I want whole home MRV first, then if they can accomplish that, MAYBE I'll let them in my home to connect the internet. So far, trust level is LOW.

is a ten count, + "maybe" your BB DECA for internet, making it 11.

Might help if you would post pictures of the screens on the 24s [all of them] so some of this might get sorted out.

what do you mean "a few wired"? are you mixing DECA and ethernet in the same system?

Seems like the tech connected all the coax to the splitters, and then picked one at the dual coax locations for the receiver and terminated the other.
Sort of saves toning out which coax it connected.
