I have 2 HR20's and one new HR23. I have two cables going to the HR20's, but only one going upstairs to the new HR23. I am going to order a SWM8 to resolve the single cable problem.
Am I able with the one cable to watch one show while I record another, or am I able to run two cables from a splitter off the SWM8 - go down to one cable to go upstairs - and then spit it back to 2 cables?

With a SWM you can split the cable but you only need one cable going into a SWM capable unit for both tuners to work. You don't need to split the cable and then plug it into both ports on the back.
