I installed a SWM8 2 weeks ago replacing a WB68. Now, when I check the satellite strengths on my 3 DVRs (2 HR20's and 1 HR22), there is a new listing for the SWM with 9 "transponders" listed. What exactly do these refer to? What should they be? On each DVR they are in the 90's except that 1 transponder and occasionally a second is always 0. I believe the one that is zero is different on each DVR, and I think the one that is zero varies after the DVRs are restarted. The actually satellite strengths for all the different satellites is quite high, and I don't believe there are any issues with the actual satellite reception. Is this normal?

I am asking because on both HR20's but not the HR22, I intermittently lose all the D11 satellite channels. Even when I can't tune them, the signal strength for all satellites is excellent. I also don't get the usual "searching for signal" or "call 771" message everyone else seems to get when channels don't show up.

This is the configuration: Output number 1 from the SWM goes to the power inserter about 25 feet away. The output from the PI is split once to one HR20 and one HR22 using an SWS2. The second output from the SWM goes straight to the other HR20.

So, interestingly one line from the SWM is split, and one of the receivers it is feeding is periodically losing the D11 sats, while the other leg of the split goes to a receiver that never does. And, the other receiver that periodically loses those sats is on its own line.

Thanks for the help.

The SWM signal strength is a measure of the signal strength from the receiver to the SWM module. Each tuner has its own communications channel to the SWM so that they can talk, and this is just a graphical measure of that so you can make sure your wiring is allowing the receiver and SWM to talk properly.

The SWM has 8 channels and will assign one of them to each tuner which is connected. The ninth one is used for the SWM to supply data to the tuner (including guide information). There is also a 2.3 MHz channel which the receivers use to talk to the SWM, telling it which satellite and transponder to tune to. There will be some zeros if you have fewer than 8 tuners connected.

Thanks all for the input. I do only have 6 tuners total, which would account for one or two zeroes.

Since it seems the SWM8 is working normally, does anyone have any idea why I may be losing the D11 satellite channels on my HR20's and not my HR22? BTW, I have tried switching the wires at the SWS splitter, and the problem persists with the HR20. The sat signals for all the satellites are excellent even when I get no picture on the D11 channels.

I don't know if this helps but I installed my swm-8 today with 6 tuners (1 hr20and 2 hr21) and all 9 of my transponders list 96+ on all 3 machines at the same time.

"Zeros" can be a bit of a "wildcard".
As an example of this:
With only one H21 connected, I get no zeros on my system.
With 3 DVRs & the H21 connected, I get zeros that the number and quantity change between all of the receivers.
Also on a working SWM system, if the dish goes out of alignment, the SWM channels all become zero too [nothing in = nothing out].
