I reported this once a couple of weeks ago and got some help.

I've DVR with duel recording. Black box says 522 on it. Is that the useful number?

Problem .. TV#1 and #2 has a message approx; 'downloading guide, wait 5 minutes or press stop'. Wait does not work. Messages will stay there at least two hours.

A power off and restart will remove the messages get the system running again after about five minutes. It happens perhaps weekly.

New question: is there anything else I can do other than power off and back on?

I've had this hang problem on my 721 in the past. Usually you can pull the plug for 30 seconds and then it will reboot and the download problem will go away - when it asks again it usually takes less then 5 minutes.

On my 508's the message will stay there forever unless I press "stop", but when I do press "stop" after 15 minutes I have the guide. Don't ask me why or how....

Edit: it wasn't always like this, but I do not know when it started.

New question: Spouse conjectures that I only see the System hangs with a 'downloading guide' message when a tennis match is programmed for recording at about 300am local time. Could it be that the recording of the tennis match and the downloading of the guide are incompatable?

More information: I have ruled out the conflict with recording tennis in the early morning hours.

Even more information: The error on TV#1 shows the loading as 95% complete. The error on TV#2 shows the loading as not even started. Does this indicate anything?
