I know they say "DO NOT TAKE DISH", only take your receivers and remote, but my landlord at my current apartment is going to take this dish down and throw it away, (he went on a 45 minute rant over the phone how he hates Directv and the location of the dish)... But it's less than 6 months old, so what happens if I take it with me? Would the installer use it at my new location?

No sense in wasting a practically brand new dish, countless ft of wire (installer had to run all new wires to the rooms), etc.

u can take it with u as a back up or when u go camping. dunno if the installer will use use it or not. it depends on what kind it is.
u can always take it with u and sell it on ebay someone out there will take it.

Just take it with you or at least take the LNB just in case something ever goes wrong with your new dish you have a backup.

If it is on the roof, be sure to screw the mounting screws back into the roof or it will leak and he will possibly come after you for damages.

If he takes it down it should be his problem.

Let him remove it and deal with any problems, I might just disconnect the LNB if you have easy access to it to have a spare as someone else suggested; but let any possible damage be his problem.

if you want to remove the dish yourself, you MUST leave the foot plate behind by removing the 4 bolts that hold the mast pipe to the foot plate. removing the foot plate is asking for trouble. :nono:

Okay thanks for the advice! I'll just leave the footplate behind. Hopefully the installer will use it. (Use the old dish, that is)

make sure to treat and transport the dish with great care if you want the installer to use it. any dents or signs of rough handling and the tech might refuse to use.

I had the same problem when I moved. The Installer at the new house wouldn't use the old dish. So I took the SWM LNB off and the dish has been sitting in my garage ever since. What are the dishes made of? Is it something that I could recycle?

they are made of aluminum metal. they can be recycled if you wish

If I ever move, I'm taking the dish, multiswitch, cabling and every trace of DirecTV. Then I'm installing the whole thing at my new address (since I installed all of it at my PRESENT address). Then I will surprise DirecTV with my new address. Oh, sorry, no mover's connection needed and no new 2 year commitment either. HA HA.
