What if, by some dire circumstances, you were allowed to have
only one hi-tech device, and all the rest you must rid yourself of?

Your choices, of which you can keep only one, are:

1. PC/Laptop w/Internet connectivity
2. Cell phone, your choice
3. Television set w/any provider
4. iPod/other personal music player
5. Satellite radio (XM/Sirius)
6. GPS Locator

According to those industry experts who worry about such things,
your choice will most likely be a factor of your age. Consider this
surprising news: The older you get, the more you want your tv set.

I had to vote PC because of the fact that there is also Media Center or other PVR options so I wouldn't totally have to give up TV functionality.

C'mon, Nick! Who can do without any of these toys? If I had to do without just one, it would be the MP3 player. The rest I just gotta have!:D

No, Cholly, in this hi-tech Orwellian nightmare, you get only one
choice -- which will it be? If you don't choose, you get none.

You have 30 seconds to decide...

I'm with Bidger. We're have more PCs than TVs in our household, one of which is an HTPC.

PC W/Internet connectivity

With this I could

- Download & watch most major TV shows time shifted via BitTorrent and P2P
- Listen to the MP3s that would be on my iPod
- Stream XM Radio Online and Sirius Internet Radio
- Have access to MapQuest
- I could do with out a cell phone

Sure a lot of the functionality is lost in each aspect, but I'd still have each in spirit.

If the option was PC withOUT internet access, no second thought, give me satellite radio or give me death.

Sorry I have always loved Tv since I was a kid and could never imagine being without it. Internet would be a second though. IF they could ever add it to my tv then I would get the best of both .

Don't forget!!!

You could EASILY do VOIP with your laptop and an Internet connection. You could even setup your own WiFi hotspot. Once you did that you could use your laptop (now running VOIP phone services) and you're in business. You got yourself a "mobile phone"!

A laptop easily replaces EVERYTHING on that list. :)

Great post and poll by the way.
