Television Viewing Statistics (and GameLounge)

I found the following article from Nielsen that prompted a thought:

Nielsen's findings show that screen time of the average American continues to increase with TV users watching more TV than ever before (127 hrs, 15 min per month), while also spending 9% more time using the Internet (26 hrs, 26 min per month) from last year. At the same time, a small but growing number of Internet and mobile phone users are watching video online (2 hrs, 19 min per month), as well as using their cell phones to watch video (3 hrs, 15 min per month).
Nielsen also noted that 5:50 of time-shifted TV per month which I'm sure is closer to 5:50 per week (or per day for the power users) here at DBSTalk.com.What's not noted is DIRECTV GameLounge which is likely not even tracked by Nielsen.

I'm curious how many hours per week do you use GameLounge and what other thoughts you may have about GameLounge ..

Played Monopoly during the free weekend. It was so slow, and at times unresponsive. I can't see ever subscribing!

As for time shifting, Most everything we watch is time-shifted. Probably 10+ hours a week.

Tried gamelounge a few times during free weekends, did not become addicted. :D

Aside from live sporting events, probably 85% of our TV viewing is time shifted, and we probably record an easy 20 hours per week. About half the time at least one if not all three of us are peering at the TV over our laptops.

.
I messed with it during a free trial a good while back... Was way too slow for me... I'll stick to my Wii/PS3/Computer for games....

That's my take as well.

Same experience here.
I have never used game lounge. I don't see myself using it in the future.
Like all of the interactive services Sports Stats, Gamelounge and the Active channel...it's way too slow to be enjoyable.
The Game Lounge is a sluggish mess. I'll stick to the free games available online.

That's my feelings for sure. Even for free, the interactive features aren't worth my time.
I have messed with it also and it's also too slow for me. My ten year old likes it but he's autistic.
The game lounge has scored in the top ten a few times in the Active/interactive "Whats Hot" page for kids programming.

Can't agree more. Tried Gamelounge during the free weekend and found it is so slow that is unplayable.
I guess I'm one of the few that LIKES Game Lounge. Though it needs improvement. The leader boards are screwed up and are not accurate which affects tokens awarded when playing for fun. GL says they are working on it though. It does need to be sped up as well even though it is faster than it was when it launched. I have a PS2 though sometimes I just want to relax with the card games offered by GL. I play GL maybe 7 - 10 hours a week.
Looked at it once, never used it. No plans to, either. I'm old and cranky enough to sit here, look you in the eye, and say video games are for kids, not adults. Responsible adults, that is.

I am an adult (34 years old) and have grown up BUT am not ashamed to admit that I am a kid at heart that does enjoy video games and likes certain cartoons and watches some regularly. I see nothing wrong with that.
Obviously a lot of folks here do not use Game Lounge a lot. I wonder what might help to make it more attractive ..
