Hi, I didn't see anyone else with this specific problem so I hope I didn't miss a post about this already. I have an indoor Terk antenna that will pickup the local HD broadcasts when I hook it up to my tv (Sony KDF55WF655) but when I try to hook it up to the VIP622 it will not locate any local channels.

I may be doing something wrong but the TV just scans for channels when it is hooked up and recognizes them right away. I'm not sure why they wouldn't appear for the 622.

Does anyone have any thoughts on why this would happen?

I am using a Terk with my ViP622 and have no problems. Works even better than my previous receiver did. My TV does not have OTA tuner, so I can't compare that.

I can say, though, that I am NOT using the inline amplifier that came with the Terk. I found that it actually caused me to lose signal on several channels... so I took it out a long time ago and has worked flawless ever since.

Are you using the inline amplifier? And if so, have you tried connecting without it?

Dumb question time... I assume you have an activated Dish receiver... and have gone into the system setup menu and scanned for locals after connecting your antenna?

I was also going to ask the same thing. Since I'm already typing, are you sure you have the OTA antenna connected to the correct connection in back of the 622? I guess this qualifies as a dumb question, too.

MULTIPATH. If you have scanned and there are no channels then it is multipath problems. The Terks are awful when it comes to multipath.

I have an indoor TERK TV-5 and quite pleased with it. Recently picked up an RCA one just to see if it did any better, does about the same. I'm out in the boonies but pick up 7 channels (3 of which are multicast for the local PBS). Sometimes the channels are rock-solid, and then sometimes there are bad days where they lose signal too often. Yes, could be multipath, window blowing trees, dunno. I guess if I want any better I'll have to do a decent outdoor one.

Pretty stuck on them though, HD for the local channels sure looks WAY better than the SD locals over the satellite.

No worries about the questions, might as well be thorough.

Yes I have connected and activated the receiver, I can view all the channels I subscribe to.

The correct input should be the tv antenna / cable input on the top left if you're looking at the back of the receiver, right?

I'm not sure what multipath is? Anyway to correct this other than purchasing a new antenna? I hate having to switch video inputs to watch the few channels the thing picks up.

Short Explanation of what multipath is below. Based on what info you have provided I would lean towards a multipath issues. Looks like your TV Tuner does a better job at handling it than the 622.

Here is something you can do. There is a way to add a channel manually with the 622. (Add Channel). You can use that screen and provide the frequency of your strongest channel. Then move the antenna around slowly and see if you pick up anything. It is possible that by moving it to another direction you might lock on.

If that does not work.. The next thing I would try is an antenna designed to be more multi path resistant.

The only problem is the channels are **.1 (6.1, 17.1, etc). I have yet to see how to input a . with the included remote.

When you Add the channel you just put in the frequency... Basically what I am suggesting is using the manual Add channel as a signal finder.

Go to antennaweb.org and find out what the correct freq. ch is and try inputting the ch by using the add ch.
