can a terminator be made of of a piece of rg6?
from what I read the swm-8 needs it on all unused ports and right now I don't have any.

Believe a 6' cable on any unused port will prevent the reflection issues from unterminated ports..

ok, I do have some of those to get by with temporarily.
also have some 3 inch sections with good end that I wondered about crossing to create termination. they're actually 10 feet but got hit by weed wacker earlier this year.

they sell them all over, home depot, lowes, radio shack, frys, etc.

i dont have mine terminated, and see no issue.

I'd cut/trim and check with meter before putting them on.
no maybe about it, they ARE shorted. but the ends were not touched so I have room to work with.
thats if I even need them.

Termination is a better term to use than terminator. They are not required on the unused input (flex) ports or legacy ports. If using cable, I'd go with a bit more than 6 ft. (more like 50 ft.) to get a reasonable match.

ok, I thought they were needed on legacy ports for some reason. if the unit arrives with one on the swm2 port (some say they do, others say no) I'm actually all set then.
