I have replaced my RG-6 cable from my CM4228 with RG11. I recorded signal strength before and after switching and have noticed a increase in signal strength of 3-6 pts. WRAZ50 was not locking with the RG6,but has no dropouts so far using RG11 although the signal is hovering at 60-64. I plan to monitor this a few hrs then swap back to the RG6 and see if I am able to keep WRAZ locked then. Having trouble receiving a solid FOX signal is reason for the testing,so also plan to do some test with FOX 8/14 and Fox 26. Both 26 and 50 are over 60 miles away while 14 is closer,but is not very strong. I normally am unable to get WRAZ50 during the daytime and wasn't receiving it today before switching. I also normally suffer dropouts on it even when getting a signal of 65-70. I hoping the RG11 is improving my signal loss just enough to stop the dropouts. I will keep results posted.

Are you using a mast mounted pre-amp with that CM4228? I used to have one and I used an Winegard HDP-269 with it and I was able to pull in channels reliably from over 50mi. away. Of course good digital reception depends on many factors. But you might want to give the pre-amp a shot.

Yes I'm using the Channel Master 7777. I am in a really good location with the exception of receiving FOX

Have you visited tvfool.com? Go there and you can get a plot from your address to your local transmitters. You can then get a better idea of what you should be able to get.

I have been there and I can pull in around 37 stations of course PBS and ION account for about 15 of those. I really have no issues with anything other than the 3 FOX stations within my reach. As I said 2 of them are over 60 miles away while the closest one is weak and not a a very good one at that. I am really only trying to get WRAZ 50 locked. As anyone in this area can tell you FOX50 is by far the best at presenting HD content,not to mention their RTN 50.2 content. I do not want watch the NFL or anything else in 4x3 on a 46 inch widescreen plasma if at all possible.

Man, something 60mi. away is gonna be tough. How long are your cable runs? Is it possible to get that 4228 any higher? Have you tried avsform.com in the HDTV reception section look up your city and post there to see what others in your area are using.

Actually other than WRAZ50 60 miles isn't a problem. I pulling in and locking stations 65 miles( WLFL22) away with no problems at all. In fact I get WRAL5 which is the sister station to WRAZ and located at the same transmitter site. MY problem is specific to WRAZ50 and my location. The area of NC where I live is very flat and I am surrouded by stations.

After 6hrs of viewing with the RG11 connected I am still holding WRAZ50 at 64-65 on the meter. I did experience 9 dropouts, but the signal returned instantly. None of the signal drops and its 5 minutes before it returned. It is beautiful day here in eastern NC,with little wind,so that could very well be the source of my improved reception. Only time will tell. I plan to switch back to RG6 shortly to see what happens.
