Ok brand new to directv (just had it installed this morning), so I am trying to figure out if I am getting the highest quality picture that I can and therefore trying to figure out if my signal strength is where it needs to be.


I am not exactly sure what numbers to provide everyone here, so you can tell me whether or not its normal or not, but I did see that my 99c (not sure what that is) is at around 65-67 , and I did recall reading that it should not be below 70, so if that is the case should I call directv and have someone come out and adjust the dish.

If you get a picture that is free of visible interruptions, that's it. With digital, you either get the picture or you don't. Your 99(c) readings are unacceptable assuming clear weather. All of them should be 85+. Find an HD channel that seems to be "breaking up" and make it sound like the most important channel in the whole line-up when you call DIRECTV.

You need to get this done within the first 30 days or you will end up paying to get it straightened out when the weather gets nasty.

signals on 101 should be at least high 70s or better.
Signals on 103s and 99s should be in the high 70s or better (like mid 80s)
if the signals are below that, you need the tech to come back out Warranty is 90 days. best to call in the first 30.
rain decreases signal so you want it as high as possible to fight rain fade

on the + or _ after the sat number press select to change the sat number/

85+ on 99(c) isn't necessarily guaranteed. Even with lots of adjusting, I can only get to 78.

I expect if you called with 99(c) problems today, they wouldn't beef about 30 day limits. D11 just lit up last week, I'm sure they get so many 99(c) calls right now they can't be bothered to give you grief over timing.
