TV Guide recently came out with its list of the "Top 50 Worst Shows" in television history. Two of the top 10 programs were based in the world of sports, one way or another: the XFL and Celebrity Boxing.
To be fair, the XFL had some innovations in sports coverage (especially with microphones and cameras on the field) that the "respectable" leagues quickly pilfered. And "Celebrity Boxing" might not make anyone forget M*A*S*H, but no one can deny the entertainment value in seeing Star Trek's Wil Wheaton beat up the little brother from "Who's The Boss?"
That's not to say television hasn't been littered with simply awful shows involving sports over the years. There may not be enough for a Top 50, but there were just the right amount of big embarrassments on the small screen for a solid Top 10:
