My Comcast contract expired and the prices are now very high for everything. I was thinking about switching to DTV from Comcast but had a few questions. The channels that I need and watch the most are

AMC HD
BBC America HD

Does Directv carry these? And if not do they plan to? And I have Tivo right now and love it. I know DTV has Tivo in my area but I'm not sure if it runs the same software version as the normal Tivo's. Do you get the HD menus with the DTV version of Tivo?

Directv has AMC in HD, but not BBCA (yet). It is probably the most requested HD channel on this forum.

Figures. That is the channel I wanted in HD the most. And actually I found a website that compares Comcast HD to DirecTv HD. And man Comcast has ALOT more HD then direcTv or Dish. I thought it used to be the other way around...

Yea, some cable companies have been agressive in expanding their HD lineups. They've been able to reclaim bandwidth needed to do it by moving more and more analog channels to digital or going to switched video. But remember to check your local Comcast systems lineup since each location might be different.

Yeah I went by my area. And I can count at least 10 more HD channels then either DTV or Dish and they are all good channels too. I think I will stay will comcast...

Which are the channels you consider good that DirecTV doesn't have that your Comcast does?

That is why I have both. Comcast here has H2,G4, BBC HLN and several others I watch in HD. Also has local sports I either can't get on Directv or would have to pay lots more to get.
Both contracts expire at the same time, so whoever has the channels I watch in HD will get the money. Right now Directv is losing.

The addition of the 4 Tuner Tivo with whole house really is helping that along on Comcast's side.

Wish I could afford to do both. I've come close to doing it a few times but I just can't justify the price right now.

Whats up with the ALT feeds? Couldnt do better than that? SEC baseball on Comcast daily. Where is it on D*? Cardinals games in the basic package...opps, thats $12.99 a month on D* sir. By the way, you forgot NFL ST.

I also forgot D* has more HBO HD, more MAX HD, more Starz HD, and more SHOW HD. Hot pass HD, The added tennis and golf feeds. Event PPV 2 HD (just about all cable systems can only show 1 event in HD at a time)

More RSN feeds that you can see games on and in HD (some areas)

More over flow HD feeds (some areas)

Chiller SD (not on all comcast systems)

WGN A (not on all comcast systems)
