Hey anyone else seeing high internal temps on their THR22?? Mine sits on a shelf by itself, no door and no components below it. Outside the entertainment center 6" above it is my XBOX and PS3. On the first 80+ degree day here I got the internal temp is high message on my screen and I since the average daily temp has risen I see it more frequently. I cut in 3 120mm fans with a temp sensor in the back of the entertainment center, and I am still seeing internal temps of 55C to 60C. I am just wondering what others are seeing and hoping to get some ideas to help keep the temps low as I head into the summer.

I just acquired a new unit in January. It has run (Hot) anywhere from 54C to 64C. When it hit 64 I got an onscreen message saying unit was hot and make sure air vents weren't blocked. I have in a cabinet with a glass door in front and the back completely open. I open the door and it went down to 60. This morning I pulled it out of the cabinet and have it sitting on top of a speaker near the TV. Temp down to 54 but still noted as Hot. Does anyone know the normal temperature range?

My HR24 runs at 113° F most of the time.
Find the grill for the fan in the back of the unit and see if the grill is clogged with dust. If it isn't, see if the fan is actually running.

how to compare the values ?!
Is this an April Fools joke?

113F = 45C

Hard drives are typically rated to top out at 60C (140F) while running but sustained operation at higher than 50C (122F) is not recommended.

Housing the THR22 in a mostly closed cabinet (along with other heat sources) is an absolutely terrible idea (this is documented in the "Viewer's Guide") but this unit is also likely be suffering from a failed fan as the open air performance is above practical norms.

THR22 manual said:
Ensure proper ventilation - the vent slots on the DVR must be left uncovered to allow proper airflow to the unit. Blocking the airflow to the unit could impair performance or damage your DVR and other components.

Do not stack electronic components or other objects on top of the DVR. Also, do not stack the DVR on top of a "hot component" such as an audio power amplifier.

The Minis can run a little hotter as they're measuring the temperature differently and because they don't have a hard drive. 145F is pretty darn hot.

All of my audio/video equipment are housed in media furniture that is designed to provide ventilation for the equipment stored inside it.
I submit that your media furniture isn't doing a particularly effective job of ventilation if your C61K is running 17% warmer than WestDC's.

the thread is about THR22, not C61k
It is about what might be causing problems for a THR22. Since the unit in question isn't being baked in a home entertainment oven (preemptively noted in the OP), it must be some other issue.

Reliable operating temperatures are always of interest.

I will address this you since to P S is upset we are off receiver topic --LOL --just re-checked my c61k it's a 140 F --it sits on a solid wood shelf -next too a Hr54 (97 F) & a Hr22 (102) with a 1TB Estata drive in a closed closet in the MB also a SONY 1080 AV AMP below the shelf - that's behind my living room TV :)
