This is a new regional sports network in Dayton, Ohio that will be carrying certain college basketball games starting this fall. I don't know yet whether it will be in HD. Will Directv be carrying this channel and is it being included in the current negotiations over the LA sportsnet?

Doubtful - by the name, it sounds like it's TW cable-only.

I believe the only Time Warner sports network being considered is the LA one. None of the others are worth what Time Warner would charge people to get them.

I became aware of it through the Dayton Flyers release of the basketball schedule. Its not on the Time Warner website for Dayton yet.

Mattsarzsports.com shows some as A10 network and Time-Warner-Dayton. He hasn't put up explanations yet.

The channel you are speaking of is one of Time Warner's local sports channels. They typically carry several hours of the America One Sports network (women's/men's hockey, volleyball, swimming, soccer) each day along with some locally produced sports shows or high school/college games. They also act as a clearinghouse for overflow games when needed. It's not a channel that DirecTV would pick up.

The TW sports channel in my area carries a few U-Albany Football/Basketball games, a few Syracuse games, syracuse football/basketball shows, stupid roundtable discussion shows with TV anchors that got fired years ago, game replays, and some football games from ESPN Plus on Saturdays.

In this instance, Time Warner Sportsnet Dayton will be carrying basketball games produced by CBS Sports Regional (A-10 network) on an exclusive basis, so its not quite locally produced programming. Presumably, if the games are picked up by other RSNs it will be blacked out in the Dayton DMA.

In Dayton, college basketball is the no. 1 sport. So if DirecTV is picking up that TWC Sportsnet in L.A., then why won't it pick up the one in Dayton?

Looks like they might be starting slow and ramping up. Time Warner could use this channel as a placeholder if they can get the rights a team like the Reds. ESPN didn't start out with pro football, nba, etc, they started with sports like bowling and college golf.

It is probably more like CN8, a Comcast only channel that has filled the same role over the years. It is not offered to other systems. Or the Audience network in directv.

Looks like you are correct. Five Xavier games and some Miami games were added to the schedule. This is becoming a must have channel for southwest ohio (Dayton and Cincinnati DMAs). Combined, we are the no. 1 market for college basketball in the country -- its more popular than any other sport (including pro football).

Meanwhile, online streaming of these telecasts for out of market viewers has been suspended, leading me to believe they are trying to get sattelite coverage.

Very frustrated with DirecTV now.

There are more than a dozen local sports channels without pro coverage. None are on DirecTV and none are ever likely to be.

Further, the Reds and Blue Jackets are signed for many years to come to Fox.
