I'm trying to come up with the righteous indignation at TiVo for this. They are probably already earning more money on patent suit settlements than on making hardware. If the writer of the article is on track, that will continue in spades. It is a different world where defending an idea is worth more than using the idea itself.
But I can't see anything wrong here. TiVo came up with the idea. These other companies didn't give a squat. They stole the idea. TiVo is just making that point and they are making it well.
I agree. Good for TiVo.
