The Top Gear season premier is tonight on the History Channel. Looking forward to this because I decided half way through last season that "The Car Show" on Speed lost the battle of the two new car shows and Top Gear was the one to watch.

It took a few episodes for them to get into their groove, but I think they are there. After all, it took a while for the new UK version to get there as well. At least the US version didn't start off with a car salesman.

Yes. I guess he's our Jeremy Clarkson. He does have a lot of skill though.

None of that was real, aside from transporting open flames it takes more than a day and driving up a hill to get a CDL. They also didn't actually run over some poor bastards car in that town, it is all staged. Still funny, just realize it is like everything else, very very fake.

It was an interesting show but... they had to know this was coming, as mentioned you cannot get your CDL in a day. You must first pass the written test, and then get a temporary license. One you get your temporary license you can drive during certain hours with a qualified passenger.

As for driving on public roads with a lit fire and fireworks, I don't think so. Funny how all the fireworks were pointing outward when they opened the doors.

It was fun to watch the hill start but other than that, it kind of stunk for a season premier.

Sure, not everything was staged. The crash that Hammond was in was entirely real.

But most of the aspects for humorous effect (also like Hammond's entering restricted airport airspace etc), I just assume it's all staged. Doesn't make it less entertaining.

top gear (uk) can be watched in hd, just not on dtv. i've watched the india special and the first 3 episodes of season 18 on streetfire.net.

I don't believe those can be watched even in SD from any official source here. I don't even think they've aired last years Christmas special on BBCA.

once bbc america begins airing them, they can be downloaded from itunes or amazon prime for a cost.

the streetfire uploads have been fine for me on my 22 in imac!
