After loading up 0x108 and now 0x10B I can officially say that I am disappointed in the HR20's OTA capabilities. I am using a Silver Sensor split to my TV's ATSC input and the HR20. My Sony's ATSC tuner picks up stations that the HR20 can't. I get CBS and PBS on the Sony, but 777 on the HR20. I've verified cabling and even tried swapping cables. Same result.

I was hoping that the H20's tuner would be brought over to it's DVR brethren, but I guess that's not the case here. :(

I have an HR10-250 in the den and an HR-20 in the bedroom, both with a Silver Sensor and both picking up every channel that my Sony Bravia's can. I can say that in my location, all tuners are performing up to par and with similar signal strengths between the TV and its respective DVR tuner.

In St. Louis my Panasonic plasma picked up all channels great but the HR20 doesn't pick up any channels, all 0 signal strength. Very dissapointed in OTA tuner.

Try going to the setup, antenna setup, and re-key your zipcode (even though it may be in there already...then say done and try a reboot....

Did you run the system test to see what was indicated there for the 2 OTA tuners?
Channels show up in guide, I ran a system test and it said both tuners OK,Acquired at 0%

I live some good 60 MI to Chicago and my HR20 is pulling in stations my H10 couldn't see without a 12db booster. I'm quite pleased with it. I was hoping to get Milwaukee if possible but the HR20 won't list it for my second market. I suppose I could find out a zip up there and input it but I doubt it's worth it.

Try 53406 You may get lucky and get both Chicago and Milwaukee.

Good luck

I will, thanks. I think I have more of a directional antenna so I'd have to get a motor on it or something but it's worth a shot.

Then you may have some antenna/cable/other setup issues.

I'd start with re-key of the zip code, re-run the search for stations process, and then do a reset. After that, go back in and check the signal levels.

Different experience for me. The HR20 give me a stronger lock on all digital signals then my old receiver and it pulls in about a 50 on a channel that I got 0 on before. There is an issue with one channel but then that channel doesn't have the best track record anyway.

****Here's a key point that people need to keep in mind or be aware of****
I'm seeing several posts that "I am only getting a 70-80 on this OTA station, the tuner sucks!" No, that's not the case. If you get a steady lock that's all you need, the station will come in perfectly. And with no rain fade with OTA if all you get is a 40 signal strength lock you are still A-ok. It's not like satellite where you want 85+ to battle rain fade. With OTA all you need is a lock and hope it's above 40 or so.

Is it possible there are some faulty OTA tuners out there? I'm in the same boat as the others that are happy, my OTA tuners all peg out at 100% except for one, and it's at 96-98%. But there are enough people here that are getting 0% that it seems like there might be a problem?

Have you guys who are splitting the feed switched the lines that are split? I.E. take the line that is working well on your HDTV now and switch it with the line on your HR20 that isn't?

I'm having similar problems that a lot of people are talking about with getting the OTA channels on the HR20. I have two antennas, a cheap indoor one that I have pointed to pick up the HD channels in Baltimore and an outdoor antenna facing the HD channels in Washington, DC (I'm about 13 miles away from the Baltimore towers and about 25 miles away from the towers in DC). The outdoor antenna also does a good job of picking up the Baltimore stations. My Sony does a great job with both antennas with all of the Baltimore stations coming in around 95 to 98 signal strength and the DC ones coming in around 70 to 80, but I always have signal lock with all of them.

So, I downloaded the update last night, hooked up everything (using the outdoor antenna, because it gets the most stations) and was looking forward to getting all new stations. It finds all of the stations and I start to look at the signal meters and I find that I'm getting 0% for the Baltimore CBS station (which has been one of the strongest on the Sony), my Baltimore ABC is very weak and everything else seems pretty poor. I check the outdoor antenna on my Sony and it is still showing good there, but for whatever reason, it does not like my CBS or PBS stations. I try the everything with the wiring and connecting and no luck with the outdoor antenna getting about half of the stations are constantly going between getting a signal and not getting a signal on them. So, on a whim, I decide to check my small indoor antenna and all of a sudden, I get a strong signal lock on all of the Baltimore stations (and can't get the DC stations, because it is a cheap indoor antenna pointed the wrong way).

Part of me thinks it is the outdoor antenna, as there is a power insert on it, but why would that affect the HR20 OTA tuner and not affect the Sony's OTA tuner? Just wondering for any insight here. Thanks.

I'm a bit disappointed as well in the HR20 tuners as well. My Mits TV picks up four stations that my HR20 is unable to pick up. Am hoping these are set to a less than optimal setting internally and can be brought up by a software update by
DTV. Earl said DTV is reading these threads regarding OTA reception.
