New to slimline 5 lnb installs. Looked on multiple sites and in the receiver set up program, all list the tilt at 85. Using an Accutrac III to set up and peak the meter at much closer to 72 deg. However the greatest meter reading I can obtain is just a little over 17. The receiver (new HD DTV DVR) can not find any of the transponders on 119. Both 101 and 110 Sat. signals are greater than 90. Mast is plumb, view of the southern sky is clear, cant quite fig. out what I might be doing wrong. Mounted on the side of the house where a standard round dish had no problems. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks

Set the tilt to the setting given by the IRD or dishpointer. Don't worry too much about tilting it with the meter since you are now way past the 119. You might be looking at another bird.

Set the tilt at the reading indicated by the receiver for a 5LNB antenna using your zip code. Peak the antenna on 101 then connect the receiver and check signal readings - 101 and 119 readings should be in the same general range.

You might be pointing at sat 110 instead of 101,easy to do with a meter.
Makes some sense, since the ird readings are higher on 110 than 101. Will try reseting tilt to 85 deg. Should I not be concerned that the signal readings on the accutrac are so low when at a tilt of 85, readings typically in the single digits.

Set your tilt to 85* and, with the meter set to 101 (ku) RHCP (13 volts with no 22 KHz tone), slowly rotate the dish to the left (sat 101 is to the left of sat 110) until signal is peaked. As you rotate the dish, you will lose the sat 110 signal (assuming that is what you are pointed too) and pick up the sat 101 signal.

If you are pointed at sat 110, it would take something less than a tilt setting of 85* to get a stronger signal on sat 119. When pointing at sat 101, a tilt setting of 85* should be very close.

Like a pool shot, it is all about the angles and bouncing the signals off the reflector to the LNB.

By the way, I am trusting that your initial rough point setting of 85* is correct for your area, I didn't double check it.

Want to thank all who helped, because of you and this site I'm watching HD television tonight. What seems so simple to you, would have taken me hours if not days to figure out. Thanks again
This is a great site with a lot of knowledgeable and helpfull people. I learn something here everyday.

Now, how long before you are tweaking sats 99c and 103c? :)
