In the picture one of the cards is not lit up so that probably explains the 2 channels being down. You are probably going to want to contact somebody like PDI or Multiband for help on that. Might be a setting issue rather than a hardware issue.

If you need to replace the amp in the picture that should not be a problem. It looks like a Blonder Tongue amp maybe BIDA series just take note of which one it is, it will probably be stamped as to what model/gain/bandwidth it is. The amp in the picture may be greater than you actually need, but it would be essential to test what is there with a signal meter so you make sure you end up with the same balance that is there now working properly.

Not too sure what you mean exactly by the trunk but the hotel should own everything else but the trunkline from the street. Never seen taps/splitters get reclaimed but they are easily replaced too from whomever you get your amp from if need be.

There are two things to consider here, 1) if you are NOT a trained SMTV installer/service tech, then you need to leave it alone, 2) You say this is a hotel, then this property falls under a master property plan and unless you work for one of those type contacter, again leave it alone.

Trying trouble shoot these kind of systems remotely and talking to some one with out the training, is only going to cause more trouble.

You need to send this job back to the MDU/SMATV department and let them track down the people that build this system.

There are several MDU/SMATV contractors in the greater LA/San Diego area

I've installed many headends in properties that had cable. I haven't had any trouble with them demanding their equipment back, or had a problem using the installed distribution system. Most of the time they don't even send someone out to reclaim thier amps or splitters.
The rules and agreements may vary from one locale to another, but in most cases I think that the cables installed inside the building become the property of the building owner.
If the cable company wants thier cable back from within the building, and it is determined that they have a legal right to it, then you can probably induce some negotiation and have them "sell" the cable to the building owner. The same goes for that distribution amp.

Is that a pro-idiom system?
