I researched this board but couldnt find an answer. I am trying to get the HR20 to tape all the Boston Celtics games (first run only) that I get as part of the NBA package on DirecTV. The SeriesLink does not pop up and allow me to enable it. Nor does autorecord work when I pick that option. I keep hitting "record all" on autorecord but it just doesnt do anything.

As a result, I have to search "Celtics" each week and record each game separately. (BTW, is it possible to save a search? I cant figure that out, either. Not easy like it was with Tivo).

Anyone know of an easier way?

Most of the sports packages are not identified a series (a "code" in the guide data).. hence why no Series Link option.

As for a search, autorecord.. Try the Keyword search (instead of title)

And, yes, your recent searches are saved (a feature I love). After hitting menu on the remote, select search and there should be something like recent searches.

It's because of the way D* re-formats their guide data. (See this message and subsequent discussion: http://www.dbstalk.com/showpost.php?p=684758&postcount=29) And unfortunately, because of that, there isn't currently a better way than you've been using, on the non-tivo dvrs.

Earl, this has reminded me, that in this post http://www.dbstalk.com/showpost.php?p=684772&postcount=30 you mentioned that this issue would be discussed over at your "exclusive" discussion area. Did anything come out of those discussions? Or from you passing this on to your contacts?

Also, I don't think it's correct to say that the series tag (not sure if that's the correct term) is not present in the data, as you CAN create a series link/pass for games, but the link only picks up that one single game. As an example, if you look at this Sunday's NBC NFL game, you can indeed set a SL for the game. But it won't pick up the following Sunday's game on the same channel, as it should. It seems to me that D*'s data vendor is, for some unknown reason, assigning a unique series tag number for each and every individual game. Every NFL game should have the same series tag.

I'm surprised that D* wouldn't just correct this problem. It doesn't seem like rocket science, it's not an issue with the dvr software, it effects ALL of D*'s highly valued sports-fan subscribers.......

I am glad to find out it's just not me. I tried every which way and spent an hour trying to figure this out.

I like that recent searches are saved automatically, but I dont want any getting deleted without my permission (which I know how to do with mark and delete). I use a handful over and over again during college basketball season.

I wish I could set up a series link on any sports team. Just have the DVR record whichever team I like, every game, at a click of a button.

Better yet, the DVR would recognize which channel was carrying the game and pick that station. Sometimes on my college basketball package, a game is listed on several regional sports packages, but it's blacked out on some of them.

Unless I record the game on each channel or check if the show is recording once the game starts, sometimes I lose a recording because the channel I am on was blacked out (for reasons I cannot fathom, even though I am well versed on DTV's blackout rules).

I have not received any return communication on the topic...

and yes, it is probably more accurate to say that these sports programs are getting a Series Tag, that only corresponds to 1 episode.

I have a similar problem to those discussed here. I was recording all of the Golden State Warriors basketball games using a series link from a keyword search. The first few weeks it worked OK, but now every game is recorded on the wrong Fox Sports channel (an out-of-market channel instead of Fox Sports Bay Area). I was previously upset that it would never record the HD games, but would seem to prefer the regular FS Bay area games, which was annoying enough. But now, all I get is a black screen, and a 'searching for authorized content' message.

I have a default channel list, which only contains the channels I watch, but the HR20 seems top ignore it when choosing which version of a show (or a game) to record. It's all very annoying.

Anyone have any suggestions for a work around?

Thanks,

Steve

Hi Earl,

I've noticed a lot of people with sports packages complaining about the Series Link on the HR20. Do you know if D* is working on or aware of the issue about setting a specific team's games up in a Series Link?

I have several sports packages (MLB and NHL) and would also like to be able to setup a Series Link (for example, to autorecord each game of a specific team - first run, not replays of the game at 2am the next day). It seems many of us would like this feature.

I don't recall seeing this items listed in the Wish List.

Thanks.
