I have tulsa locals and the picture quality SUCKS on KOKI FOX 23 and KTFO(41) they ghost and the picture quality on a 50 inch tv is awful. I have reported this to dish and they notified the techs. The quality of these channels are still awful on smaller tv's. I suspect that they might improve with E8's launch but not sure. Any idea how to get them to fix this PQ on these channels? It would look ok if they would fix the ghosting issues.

Well, if they are ghosting, they are having reception problems at the POP and another satellite will not fix that problem. Another receiving antenna at the POP or a better antenna alignment there might improve it. The best solution might be for the stations to foot the bill for a Fiber feed. The stations are required to deliver the good quality signal, but they and DISH should work together to get the best possible results within reason.

I know this will not fix this ghosting. But another satellite will fix the video compression issues. Its like watching a blur most of the time.

I have the Tulsa locals also and have noticed the ghosting, but I just haven't gotten around to call and complain. I thought there used to be a dishquality e-mail address but I can't seem to find it on their website. I have even noticed the ghosting on 6 and 8 as well. Usually can only see it during black outs when going between programming and commercials. I have the minimum cable as well (cable modem thing), so I really haven't worried about it. Only signed up for it off of dish so I can use my 501. But I hope they have it fixed before the fall shows start. Otherwise I'll have to get 1 of the UPN superstations again.

John, there is a difference between "good quality signal" and "good picture quality". D* brought up that a Boston station didn't have good picture quality and refused to carry the station. The FCC basically said that PQ is in the "eye of the beholder" (it's different to each person) and is only conserned with signal level. If a station gives the POP the necessary level of signal the station is done and has fullfilled it's requirement. If the provider wants a better picture quality it is up to the provider to fix it with ghost killers, interference filters, etc... Thus D* was required to carry the station even though it had some ghosting.

2,6 and 8 are not that bad.. Fox and UPN are the only complaint I had. They are unwatchable...

Well Tulsa locals have the honor of being the most compressed signals that dish carries. There are 12 stations on one of the transponders and 11 on the other. They share the same transponders as KC and OKC. E8 has another spot for that market, dont know if they will add another market or reduce the crammed in signals.
