Does it mean anything when I run the info and tests on the setup page that tuner one is acquired at the mid-90's and and tuner two is always much lower...in the mid-70's or 80's? Does this indicate a problem of some sort?

Trainer,

What model receiver do you have? Have you tried switching the cables and BBC's in the back (from tuner 1 to tuner 2, etc) to help rule out a bad BBC or cable?
It's the HR21-100...I have not switched either yet. So both should read approx. the same?

:welcome_s to DBSTalk!!

In my experience, HR21's tend to report lower signal strengths than HR20's in general... Not sure why... And as others have stated, I would try swapping the cables around... This will tell you whether or not the discrepancy is in the receiver or somewhere between the LNB and the receiver...

I also have seen this reported several times lately... Not sure if it's something with the latest software version, or if it's been there all along... but the reports do seem to be on the increase... As long as you're not having any issues (pixelation, audio dropouts, blank recordings, etc.), I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I had the same box installed Saturday and have the same problem but it is only on the 101 satellite. Tuner 1 reads mid 90's and Tuner 2 reads mid 70's. I swapped the cables out between the tuners and they were the same when I first pulled up the screen but by the time I cycled through all the satellites the same thing was happening. Tuner 2 about 20% lower than Tuner 1.

I called D* and they have a tech coming out Tuesday to take a look at things. I'll let you know what they say.

I have the same issue that you and others are reporting with the HR21-100. When I run the System Test my Tuner 2 reports about 25% lower than Tuner 1 does. However, when I go to look at signal strengths for each of the satellites/transponders, both tuners then report about the same level (within 1-2%).

I haven't run into any issues yet because of this and like AirRocker said, I'm not going to worry about it too much until it does.

This appears to be an issue with the HR21-100. Several members here have this issue. Not sure if it effects anything yet

I wish that was my case. When I go to the transponder screen all the transponders are running 10-20% lower also. I even had a couple on Tuner 1 that were reporting 30-40% show as 0% on Tuner 2.
Now that I think back, I believe mine was the same way until I put my multiswitch in. After that for some strange reason unknown to me, both tuners in the signal meter screens starting reading the same (system test still shows 25% difference though). If I get time tonight I'll hook my receiver directly back up to two lines from the dish and see what the levels are to confirm.

After my Recent HD upgrade I went through two HR20-100 that had the same issue. always low signal strength/771 error on Sat in 2. Swapping cables didn't help. finally after two additional tech visits I ended up with a a HR21-100. So far I have enjoyed a week with no issues.

That would be an interesting test, because in the cases I've seen so far, including my own HR21-100, the numbers are the same on the Signal Meters as they are on the View Signal Strength grid page. The "System Test" is a little different, because it shows only the last satellite/tp combo to which tuner1 and tuner 2 were tuned, based on the just previous channels selected. This is why the %'s are always changing from one "System Test" to the next.

I've noticed something similar on the HR20-700, but with the signal meters on the OTA tuners. Tuner #1 is regularly about 5-10% less than Tuner #2. I don't think it's affected much, because usually even Tuner 1 is in the mid-60s and higher on all the OTA digitals I receive. So at least in this case, it's not the BBCs, and there's only one OTA input to the box, so...
