What would cause tuner 2 to die then, after a reboot, come back? Is this a sign of more failures to come?

Its not a B-Band as I was switching the cables back and forth, and it was centralized on tuner 2. It seems to be working fine now.

I have been having the same issues with my HR-21. Called DTV and they wanted me to reformat the hard drive. I asked how would reformatting my HD fix this issue. He didn't have an answer and I said I wasn't going to do it. Then he said that it was an known issue and that a fix was in the works. That was late July.

Can you imagine calling your high speed internet provider and they tell you to reformat your PC HD to fix the connection?

I have an HR21-100 and my tuner 2 readings are always lower than tuner 1 with BBCs installed. I believe a number of us owning this particular model have this issue.

My HR20 did the same thing. Singal strenght on both tuners was great, but I would drop tuner 2 on average of once a day, fixed by reboot. I did reformat the drive, swaped out all cables, BBCs, etc. No change. New HR21 solved the problem.

Did a tech come out to swap the DVR or did they drop ship it? Also do you have the protection plan? Mine was having that problem and the tech on the phone told me to run the system test, I told him that was crazy, he agreed but assured me that doing that then doing guided setup then rebooting would fix the problem. Sure enough it did. I guess it is just a crazy algorithm that Dtv has in the dvr or something.

Interesting. I thought it was just a fluke when my HR21-700 lost sat-2\tuner2 the other day. Swapped the sat cables and problem stayed on tuner2. But after reading this post I guess not.
I still think it is a sign that there is something wrong with the HR. That opinion is offered with the idea that the rest of your system is set up correctly.
