I am considering returning to dish for the turbo gold package (save money) from Uverse. Any info on trutv, g4 and fox reality? I havent seen these listed but would think they would be there. Wife considers these as basic must haves (besides hgtv, food and tlc.
On the receivers, it appears dish changed a little, 722 is an upgrade fee now over 612? what discount does club dish create now? Last had dish a year ago with one 625 and at250. Currently ATT uverse u300HD w/ DVR and 2 extra boxs.
thanks

Whenever TruTv becomes HD, i bet Dish will get quick, since they have good relations with Time Warner

None of those stations are HD yet (G4 has been announced), so right now there's nothing to carry. Even when they do switch, there's no way to know if or when a given channel will be added. There are technical, legal, and contractual issues that have to be worked out, so nothing is announced until they are ready to be turned on.

Mike, why are you looking to leave Uverse? When it becomes available, I was wanting to get it. I was hoping for higher internet speeds. But, from what I saw, the best package only offers 768 up, which is what I have with ATT DSL.

I'm wondering if ATT Uverse actually uses Dish's programming? Even Uverse does not have SpeedHD.

Recording 4 things on 1 DVR is cool!!! I hope it doesn't use the Homezone software, HZ sucked bad!

Uverse gives you a max of 1 HD stream (or 2 in some areas) for the entire house, with a total of 4 TV streams max (like 4 sat tuners). They are planning to increase the HD to 3 streams by further compressing the HD content to about half of the bitrate the DirecTV and Dish use, because of the demand for more simultaneous HD. If you think sat systems gave you "HD Lite" at one time, wait until you see 3 HD Uverse!

Uverse is a disaster, and we do lots of reconnects for people who were briefly Uverse customers.

part of the change is we are moving to a new home and this would be in conjuction with it. I am considering both still but not sure that uverse is avail at the new home. I do like the number of channels for the money.
Internet is same as non uverse but up speed are usually 1 meg. (but I had that before uverse).
Total home dvr isnt out yet (been promised for some time) but seeing sign of current roll out!
Uverse has 2 hd stream and 2 sd streams (new upgrade)
Uverse has not been charging for additional tvs but believe new connections are getting charged. since att doesnt "move" current customers I may get those fees with a move .
Motorola boxes have issues.(audio sync, hdmi compatibility, dvr irratic operations) a receiver in our master bed needs resetting often sometimes multiple times in one evening. My understanding is cisco boxes dont have the problems but no guarantee of which we will get.
I love the ondemand part though, I have about 1,000 movies available for free, anytime but, new releases cost extra of course.
I think picture quality is somewhat lower than that of dish but far better than cable.
Uverse interactive features are nice, (yellowpages, flickr photos, weather, sports scores)

I read somewhere that trutv has an hd channel on comcast.

uverse doesnt use dish programming at all. though channels are organized similarly
no homezone software. homezone software is from 2wire who makes the uverse gateway but settops use microsoft windows CE and microsoft iptv software.

Thanks for the info guys. It does not look like Uverse is as stable as I would like at this time.

The "true" On Demand is the only thing I miss about Concast. Charlie has his head squarely up his rear end as far as "On Demand" is concerned.

Actually, it's a limit of the way satellite service works, not a conscious decision to not pursue the capability.
