I have successfully programmed my TV to power on and off using the PWR button when on the TV setting, but when I press the TV Power On or Off button only the reciever switches off. Any trick to get the TV to switch off with when pressing the TV Power Off button?

Thanks ahead of time.

I believe that you have to hold the TV power off button a little longer. It first turns off the receiver than the TV. Also if you have it set to RF you TV might not be RF. I have to aim the remote directly at the TV, but the receiver I can be anywhere in my house to operate the receiver.

Holding the button (TV Power On or Off) longer doesn't do anything different. Also, RF is disabled and it is using IR. Just in case my setup was wrong, I pointed the remote away from the box and it couldn't change anything. Only when the remote is pointed right at the box will it change the channel or perform other commands.

Any other thoughts?

Its upto the tv code, if the TV ON & OFF keys control the tv in other devices. It either does or doesn't, it isn't programmable feature that ou tun on & off. What brand of tv do you have anyways?

The TV On/Off doesn't control the TV in any setting, but the PWR button does when the selector is on TV. I am just trying to figure out why I can switch to TV and hit PWR then the TV shuts off and the TV On/Off doesn't work at all.

The TV is a Toshiba MD30H82.

Often there are codes in a remote to control certain buttons when in different settings (Mute/Volume when in Sat mode), I thought maybe some code to control the TV On/Off might be stored in the remote.

For future reference... If you enable RF, the HR20 is the only device that will use the RF technology in the remote. Other programmed devices will use IR, regardless of how you have the HR20 configured.

It's probably an issue with the make or model of your TV. Some TV's have a separate Power Off / Power On remote function while others have a "Power Toggle" button (on/off in 1 button).

You should post on the Remote Threads and see if you have find anyone with a simmilar make/model of TV that you're using and find out if there's an alternate remote code that will allow you that functionality.

Hope this helps.

Try code 11656, with it you should have use of the TV on & off in other devices. The input command should work after programming it in.

Then theres code 10765, it will get the on & off keys as well, but the input command won't work.

To enable the input command:

1. tv
2. press and hold MUTE & SELECT for two blinks
3. enter 9-6-0

I have this exact problem as well. It is only on an OLD Samsung (from about 1989 or so) that is my 3rd set (for now.) The TV power will only work if I slide the switch at the top to TV. It doesn't work at all when trying to turn both the HR20 and TV on or off at the same time. The TV input button works all the time though. I just thought it was because I have a POS TV. Interesting to hear someone else has the same problem.

There are many brands whose codes don't punch-through the commands to the tv on & off keys, panasonic and mitsubishi to name big brands that don't.
