Only one Gophers nonconference game on TV
Gophers football fans will be able to see the team on television once before the Big Ten season begins.
ESPN Regional and KSTC (Ch. 45) reached an agreement Thursday that will put the Sept. 7 game at Louisiana-Lafayette on the Hubbard-owned station. Kickoff will remain at 7 p.m.
"We are pleased because it's a road game that not many people would get to see otherwise," said Jeff Schemmel, the Gophers' senior associate athletic director.
While ESPN Regional will produce the Sept. 7 game, it has not expressed an interest in the Gophers' other three nonconference games -- Aug. 31 vs. Southwest Texas State; Sept. 14 vs. Toledo; and Sept. 21 vs. Buffalo -- all of which will be played at the Metrodome.
"We are disappointed they were not interested in all the games," Schemmel said. "We got used to the old MSC [now Fox Sports Net] when we had live or tape-delayed telecasts of all our football games. We miss that."
