More than likely the batteries are getting low enough in the remote to keep it from putting out enough of a signal to control the 625, but there not yet low enough to trigger the low battery warning.

Another trick is using a standard splitter combine the antenna input with the TV2 output at the back of the receiver (before the diplexer if being used). Using a second standard splitter create an extra RF jack behind the TV2 location, and put the antenna right there at the TV.
