I know we've had The Weather Channel in HD for quite some time now but... I was tuning into that channel to watch for Hurricane updates. I've got to say again, WOW! PQ on that is amazing! Crisp clear and vibrant colors!

Not only is the PQ excellent, the production values are impressive. The way they use columns and graphics is very well done.
TWC does do a very good job with their shows/channel/etc.

Really shows off what good production and HD can accomplish!
and soon we will be getting the weather on the 8's...which would hlep me get closer to dumping time warner cable in december.
If TWC could just provide the weather stats and forecast instead of hour long shows about past weather events..
i still dont like that they use that video map on the wall for the forecasts as opposed to a blue-screen that covers the whole picture....the map on the wall 1) is washed out and isnt as sharp, 2) has a wierd curved look to it & 3) alot of the 16x9 picture is wasted with just looking at the set.

As with everything else on TWC, this is actually due in part to 'human-induced climate change'.
Yes, TWC has totally drunk the human induced global warming kool aid.

If you want the Hd version... stick your head out the window.

Is this true? When can we expect to get the local on the 8's? When I got rid of cable, this is one thing I really missed. Thanks for any information in advance.
My September online bill (posted today) says we now get weather on the 8's but nothing appears to have changed.
Weather on the 8s will only be available in the SD version.
also the active button is getting an update as well.

talk about all this here as well:

Does anyone know for sure that Weather on the 8s is not coming to the HD channel?

I understand it is coming first to the SD but one would think it would make its way to the HD channel at some point.

I agree 100%. Hard to believe they spent all that time and money "getting it right" before launch and came up this. The full screen radar and graphics are amazing, but the maps are washed out and have the vibrancy of looking through an open window with a screen.

Please explain further what does the "sd version" mean. I looked at my guide and the only channel that shows up is TWCHD. Thanks in advance for any information.
