UI customization?

We recently moved from the HDTiVo to an HR21. While the DoD and additional HD are nice, we aren't very happy with the user interface.

In particular, my wife doesn't like having whichever show is playing continue in the upper right corner of 'My Playlist' and other menu screens. I'd also like to see more items in 'My Playlist', getting rid of the details about each show and the shrunken show in the upper right-hand corner.

I've done some searching through the menus and this forum, but haven't been able to find much in the way of UI customization. Are there any secret codes that I'm missing?

The channel preview window was a much-desired feature from many users, and has been there for some time.

There are several codes in the setup to turn off the scroll effects, hide the SD channels in the guide, and other things....you may want to go through the setup menu and see if any preferences need to be changes.

The user UI is not intented to emulate the Tivo UI (and in fact, some of us are very glad it doesn't, as we do not care for the Tivo version).

Everyone seems to have slightly different tastes when it comes to the User Interface. Some like the Tivo version, some hate it.

Yeah, I'm one of the folks that would prefer an option to turn it off .. BUT .. I'm clearly in the minority. It's at least 3:1 in favor of keeping it there full time. I wouldn't look for that to change any time soon.

I actually think the PIG is my 2nd favorite feature of the HR20/21 over the TiVo.

My favorite is that you can control the entire unit while watching a recordings. I hated that on TiVo that you had to exit do everything.

I guess someone thought it was called PIG for another reason... :lol:

Most definitely. If not my 1st favorite.

I love being able to search for shows, change the prioritizer, check the todo list, etc, while still watching a recording or live tv.

I love the PIG, very nice and better than the overlay guide (like on Tivo) IMO.

I do wish we could change the list size though, the guide and playlist have too few options when on a large HD TV IMO, on my 46" I could easily have more rows on the guide and playlist to make finding things easier and have to do less scrolling through the guide!

Thanks for the replies. Chalk me up as someone that one would like the ability to disable the picture in the playlist and guide. I found the wishlist survey and have voted for this item.
