universal RF remote compatible

Hey Earl, Just picked up HR20, at circutcity. Wanted to know if you no if the universal RF remote works good with the HR20, or if there have been issues befor I order one. Thanks again for your time.

I don't think there is any universal RF remote that works directly with the DirecTV Receivers.

They use a private RF frequency/authorization system.
All I could think that would be close would be something similar to the Harmony 890 which is RF, but uses an IR base to repeate the IR codes.

..working great here..The only issue is that I got some navigational repeating when I'm trying to type in a search term.
Its quite a bit larger than the rc24rf you get with the hr20. No better reception in RF mode. I'd say the wow factor of backlit buttons isn't worth the coin.
I like the RC32RF (backlit) up in the bedroom, where we usually watch in low light.

You may also want to consider it because of the increase device database.
If you have newer components you may have better luck with finding the code in the RC32's then the RC23/24

Earl, would the new codes listed in the RC32RF manual work for the RC24 or it's only embedded in that particular remote?

Newer codes will not work in the RC24.
