I am waiting for the 4.51 to 5.1 update... "TURBOCHARGED" (which means nothing on a VIP211). The 211 is already 1080i, but I don't guess it may never do the 1080p thing, since that only "works" with VOD movies on the hard drive (which the 211 doesn't have). Now if they would add EHD support which is "supposed" to happen, then maybe 1080p can happen... update 9.9?

anybody know if dish is going to update software for vip211 rec? I was hoping to get 1080hd. thanks in advance for any response. surfdude

Yep. 1080p is being delivered via VOD ... perhaps after the 211 gets an external drive, but still questionable.
Yeah, I would doubt it too since it would require the external drive to always be connected in order to take a VOD download and it would require reserving a block of space on the customer's external drive for VOD use.
