Upgrading Equipment

I have had a PVR-501 for 10 months that I purchased for a reduced price since I was a new Dish Subscriber. It's been the greatest toy! The minimum 8 month subscription period for this deal has passed, and I would like to upgrade to two PVR-508 units without paying the very high "current subscriber" price. I was thinking about having my father (who is a cable devotee) purchase these (for me), with a new subscription under his name to get the great discount, activate them at his place & then tote them over here & drop my own service & sell my 501. Any catches to my plan (besides the obvious busywork)? BTW, I never use the Pay for view. Thanks!

This is against the rules that qualify as a new subscriber. That is cheating the system and why they are so strict when it comes to certain things anymore, because they know that there are loopholes that the customers are doing. It is against the rules to have someones satellite receiver at someone else's residence as well and the only way it is not against the rules is if you have a second home that you stay at as well. The best thing to do is to wait for a while and buy them used if you want a great buy or move in with your dad, lol.
