I want to watch a basketball tournament on the NBCsports channel. It is not in my current package (Top 120).

If I call and upgrade for 4 days and then cancel, what should I expect as far as charges?

Thanks

This is pure specualtion on my part.

You would probably pay for a month of the new package price at the very least.

When you downgrade back to the original package I would suspect that you would lose any forms of special pricing that you might have at this time.

You will be prorated for the time you have the package and a $5 down grade charge if you do not keep the package for 30 days.

Expect your bill to be pro-rated ... but there will be a fee:

"A programming change fee of $5 is applied when you remove services within 30 days of adding them (waived for new customers in their first 60 days of service)."

AT120 is still offered so you will be able to go back to it. If you were subscribed to a "package no longer offered" there would be no going back.

I did this recently with NBC Sports channel. I paid 33cents/day for 3 days plus the $5 change programming fee. Be very clear when you talk to the CSR and confirm how much you will be charged.

It is better when the posts focus on the problem the user is having, not the problems the members are having with each other. Thanks!

I don't have any dealings with Dish so I have to speculate.
My speculation is based on other contracts that I have changed in the past. The most recent one was with my mother's telephone bill. I pay it for her for the last several years. I added call waiting, forwarding, etc. to her service.
She was getting a state sponsored discount because she was 88 years old.
When I added the features the discount went away. I then found out it was because this is now a new contract and she must fill out a form to get the discount again.

It stands to reason that when you change the package that you are in effect changing your contract and therefore the pricing. If you had been paying a reduced price for an introductory time for a package and changed the package to a higher priced one and then changed it back to the original again, I would think you would lose the special discount you were afforded when you started.

I will be interested to see what the result is when the OP posts back.

Why guess if you have no experience with the product?

They'll pay the new rate for a pro-rated number of days and be assessed a $5 package change charge. It's how Dish works.

Is the $5 to change to the new package and then $5 to change back to the original one?

No, there is no fee when adding programing.
Thanks
AT&T charged me $10 to add the features to my mother's phone.

If you had the old programing where you could choose to get locals or not and save $5 you will now pay the $5 and get locals. The reason is they no longer offer that package and since you are changing programing they can't give some thing they no longer have

I see what J57 is saying.

I just had a conversation with verizon about upgrading to a faster dsl speed. Not only do you now have to have a landline to get dsl, but if you are grandfathered in at a certain price you lose that price if their upgrade doesn't meet your expectation and you decide to go back to your original speed.
Yeah, sorry, sort of off topic, but it's that "grandfather" clause most people don't think about.

I've often wondered myself, if you are getting any discounts applied to your Dish account, are they lost if you subtract something from it? I would hate to be told one thing, then see my bill goes up because I dropped something.:nono:
