Hello all I want some advice I have been with Directv for about 10 years and I have regular service with them. I have at this time an r10 dvr for livingroom and 2 dtv receivers for computer room and bedroom. I just bought an hdtv for the livivngroom the other two rooms will stay just digital for now. I have been doing a lot of research reading reviews about all the hd dvrs out there and I am leaning towards the directv hr21-700 that ive seen at bestbuy but I wonder if I should try to get the hr22 instead or continue waiting until next year for the new directv/tivo model that is supposedly coming. My other wonder do I need the the slimline dish for HD service and if I keep my r10 to use in one of the other rooms will I need an SWM installed to use it and the hddvr in the livingroom. All advice and info will be appreciated.
You may be waiting a long time for the Tivo if you go that route, I would suggest getting the HR21/HR22 now and getting the HD going! It is a waste of your HDTV not to have it. If you record a lot of stuff, definitely move to the HR22. You will need a new dish for it, DTV should provide it with installation at no charge. You may need to run another line to use the R10, or get an SWM. I think it just depends on what the installer has with him when he comes for the install.... Also, I would check with DTV before buying the receiver at Best Buy, they may be able to give you a much better deal (though they will not be able to guarantee the model # of the HD DVR).
