Uplink Activity for the Week of 1-10-7 ....

287 RUSH has been renamed AMC. 287 has been the Preview Showroom HD channel for some time and is on the 8PSK Tp 7 at 110. The chjannel remains in Engineering and the EPG info is the same as channel 130 AMC. Don't know if it is HD or not.

Of all the channels Charlie would give us... he Gives us AMC HD?!? You have got to be joking.... :) As all the channels in that range are remaps of other channels, do you know what the other number is? 9xxx ?

The SD is listed in the post, but there is no other HD with the same name at this time. 287 has never really been a remap. More like an additional assignment of an existing MPEG4 to a MPEG2 for the HD Preview. We are not absolutely certain of the content of this channel at this time. Only the name and it is using much bandwidth.

I don't see reference to a HD version on AMC's website ( http://www.amctv.com/ ) ore elsewhere for that matter. AMC is a Cablevision/Rainbow Media channel like the Voom channels so it may be a hint of a new channel.

Of course, it will need a permanent home as well, if it is a new HD channel.

Dish continues the unloading of channels from the E-7 satellite spotbeams at 119 and is providing HD locals to one city, San Francisco using these spotbeams. In addition, TP 9 is only being used for spotbeams for Hawaii and Anchorage, Alaska locals and Dish has plenty of spotbeam capacity on the E-10 satellite to provide these locals even with the Alaska/Hawaii HD packages. Seems like a big waste of capacity unless Dish has some other near term plans for these TPs.

Historically 119° is what they had. Many people in Alaska and Hawaii do not receive 110° (E10) and at the time those locals were provided the 119° spot beams were the best space.

They can go across the lower 48 and tell D300 customers to upgrade to D500, replacing a dish. A little harder to tell the folks in AK and HI to install a second dish - especially when the only reason to do it is to not lose channels.

Well, as JohnH and others would tell you, E* did uplink several cool HD networks over the past few months. What we really want is to see those uplinks become "available". :)

And then we want MORE uplinks (and we want those available too).

They're not nailing the coffin shut on the 121 anytime soon, huh? What a weird move. I guess these subs couldn't wait for the 118.7 repoint kit to come out for their 121 dish, huh? So 121 may stick around for a bit with no shutoff date in sight?
