Looks like all the SD TPs on E-11 have had their Forward Error Correction (FEC) reduced to 7/8. Next step is for Dish to increase the number of SD channels per TP freeing up a TP or two for more national HD.

theres rumors swirling out there, that more HD from dish net is on its way possibly Friday, we shall see, probly around the tech chat then Charlie can announce it next week for his chat

MAP to MAP2. Don't know what it does, but it caused the WSBK Superstation to show up on Superstations Subscribers channel 36 recently. It should not cause a problem here.

I'm so accustomed to the "12 SDs per transponder" standard that learning a new limit may take some time. :)

Logically ... MAP allows the channel to be mapped down if (and only if) it is in the subscriber's own local market. MAP2 allows mapdown regardless of market. That would account for the accidental superstation mapdowns. The shopping channel mapdowns should also be MAP2 if the logic follows. (6799 is a MAP2 available in any market at 075-00.)

Not sure why MAP2 would be applied to a local station ... but as long as the station isn't available outside of it's market the change would be irrelevant.

If you add up the viewership of HD programs on local channels (e.g. "Lost", "American Idol") versus the viewership of HD programs on National HD channels, there is way more people watching HD on local channels.

Those local channels shown in recent uplink activity are all just SD channels. None of it HD. Hardly anything at all has been happening on the HD locals front since July.

E* has something like 65 or so local HD channels markets covered in HD. They have an end of year goal of 100 -with only roughly 15 weeks left in 2008.
