UPS for HR21-100

I will be with out power for 3 to 6 weeks due to IKE! So I am running a 5500W generator for the house. At night I am running a small ac window unit, tv, and some lights. All is fine till the compressor kicks on and draws the amps down and the hd dvr rests. Happens ever 5 to 10 minutes. So I was trying to find a UPS to keep it from resetting. And was wondering what the wattage on this box? And where is a good place to find one? Not wanting to spend alot sine I am already spending close to $40 a day on gas.

Thanks,
Robert

You dont need a very big one, they only draw 30-50watts. But a larger UPS will give more runtime.

www.Refurbups.com has had some great deals and service in the past.

Robert, I have a small UPS (350 to 500V A range, I am at work and don't remember for sure) that I would be happy to send to you for the price of shipping from Austin. I bought it 4 or 5 months ago and never really used it since I decided to go with one big UPS rather than several smaller ones. Let me know if you are interested. I consider myself very lucky that we were spared in Austin (it didn't even rain) and would love to be able to help you out in some small way if this is something you are interested in.

Take care,
Murray
Just a word of caution, I have an APC BE325R (325VA rated) which should be adequate (it handles 185 watts) for an HR2x, but it’s not. I’ve had it about a year, and what happens is that the battery gets a little weak and the electronic circuitry in it decides that the battery is overloaded. My advice is go with a 500VA or larger.
You must have your HR on the same leg of the generator as the A/C unit. That generator should run all you mentioned with ease, I ran the same size for two weeks after Wilma and had no trouble with my DVR's. When the A/C compressor starts it is dropping the voltage on that line below the 90 volt threshold which shuts down the DVR to prevent damage from running on low voltage. Connect your DVR, TV, lights and any other low wattage devices on a separate line back to the gen set and they won't be affected when the A/C starts.
The AC is a 220V it has 8amps on each phase. So I am not able to move the circuits around to prevent this from happening. Whats is bad is I have a smaller 110v unit in the bedroom and it pulls more amps but just on one phase.

Murray I really do appreciate the offer and would love to take you up on your offer but we don't have any mail services running at this time. If the mail service starts up before I find one I will look you up. But again thank you for the offer.

Thanks,
Robert
