USB 2.0 flash drive seems slow

Write speed on a flash card is dependent on the class of the card. A class 2 or 4 is a lot slower than a class 10. The class should be in a circle on the label. As for USB sticks, I dont know. I do know none of mine are very fast at all.

I just connected the drive to my work laptop which is Windows 7 Professional. I'm transferring the files to the laptop and am getting speeds of 15-20 MB/sec, which is 3-5 times faster than when it was connected to my Vista desktop. Do I need to update the drivers on the Vista desktop?

How about installing Windows 7 on it instead Vista is slow as crap on my parents computer too. Drivers are usually installed from the device or microsoft database, so I doubt there are any drivers that will do much better, if you have been keeping up with Windows Updates on it.

You will get speeds much faster copying files FROM the flash drive. The logjam on flash drives is the WRITE speed, copying files to them, not reading the files from them.
