Straight forward - the port labeled "LNB" goes to the LNB, the one label "REC" goes to either the battery thingy (looks like something for 2 9V batteries) or on down to your satellite receiver for power.
That builtin compass looks next to useless.
Yes - you would put this on the LNB that your trying to aim.
I have an analog version of this and it works just fine (no power adapter, however).
