You can program the remote,for IR control of two units.
Just follow the instructions in the Remote Setup to set one of those units to AV1/AV2

Using both a HR-20 and R-15 on same TV
Currently I have the HR-10 in my basement with a R-15 next to it.
I would like to have both the HR-20 and the R-15 in the basement and move the Tivo to the upstairs TV to not use 2 DTV remotes plus the TV and sometimes the receiver.
But I got to thinking if I put both of those boxes in the basement then the DTV remote, the same for both, will send signals to both at the same time!
I read about the new RF remote for the HR-20 if I get that would my problem be solved if I don't turn have RF on the R-15?
I can't be the only one with this delema.
