Sorry if this has been posted/answered before but is there a way to take say parts of a football game recored on my DVR and sent to my iMac?

The DVR will not connect to your computer and pull off shows due to copyright laws.

Get a DVD recorder, burn the recording you want to a DVD, take the DVD to the computer, convert it to MPEG4 format and then paly it on your iMac.
