I am getting very minor video glitches on recorded programs on my 722. They dont happen that often so not a big deal. Anybody else get them? I am trying to figure out if it is a signal problem or a 722 bug. did a search but didnt come up with anything.

thanks

Edit: I dont watch much live stuff but when I do watch live I havent noticed any glitches.

I get glitches, but they tend mostly to be on local channels and it is their feed to Dish that is the problem. I rarely get glitches on national HD or premium HD, but rarely is not the same as never. I too almost never watch live stuff, but when I have I see glitches.

hmm, thanks. I noticed it on a NTGEO HD recording last night, wonder if my signal quality is still a bit low at times.
Interesting. While I don't usually see glitches on nationals or premiums, I do once in a while get them on Starz. It and NTGEO HD are on 129º transponder 30 as are a few of others. Starz is the only one I watch in that group. 129º is a problem satellite, so who knows?

My 622's glitches weren't minor at all - they made recorded HD shows completely unwatchable (major pixelization, jerkiness, lost frames, stretches of no audio) and started to affect SD shows as well. Live viewing was perfect, as well as older recordings off the EHD. After telling that to the TSR the diagnosis was HDD failure and I didn't have to jump through a single hoop.

As you watch something live, record a minute or two of it (press Record, Options, manual stop). Compare the playback. Expect more problems on OTA HD which has a higher bitrate.

p.s. My RMA replacement records fine - when it records. It shuts down due to overheating in the same well-ventilated set-up as the old one that never gave a heat warning.

We have also experienced numerous video artifacts, pixelization, and macro-blocking with NTGEO, and have been reporting this over time.

Here is a recent response from Dish:
