The one thing I didn't see was the refurb testing process. You know, a long line of receivers and DVR's hooked up to TVs while people with remotes see if they work.

But it was interesting.

yes it would be nice to see the refurb testing process. Also the lady in the video might want to quit dropping the receivers in the box like the video shows.:nono2:
I think Dish has about 14 million customers and it said they refurbish 6.4 million receivers per year. Seems high to me.

With multiple receivers per customerit it is easily possible to refurbish 6.4 million. Remember these are failures and churn and upgrades. I'd be willing to bet that refurb testing process is heavily automated, no people pushing buttons and watching screens.:)

Agreed. Just the thought of "people pressing remotes". After a firmware reset one would have a lot of receivers on the same remote channel - which would make it easier to test multiple machine's reception of the remote, but not a good situation for testing individual machines in the row.

Reminded me of the recent videos of a FedEx guy and a Postal Carrier throwing packages.

I was being a bit flippant about the testing. But my experience has been 2 out of 3 refurbs work. A 33% failure rate is not a really top notch record.
