For some time now I haven't been able to view my statement online. I have auto-pay, but I still get a paper bill mailed to me. I've called DTV and it really stumps them when I tell them I can't see my statement(or past statements) online. After I get shuffled to several people they sometimes eventually tell me the reason I can't see my statement is because I have the bill mailed to me.
I can see recent orders and recent activity, but not any credits or adjustments, such as the 24-mo HD credit.

Is anyone here receiving a mailed bill and are still able to see thier statements online?

With paper bills coming to you as of a year or 2 ago you can no longer view online statements while recieving paper bills. You do have the option to sign up for paperless billing and then cancel it and get a paper bill again, Doing this will allow you to access paperless billing online for a couple of months.

I have been with DirecTv since 1997. I have always had my bill mailed to me (paper bill) and i can go online and view my bill and recent activity. There is something wrong with your computer or account. I have always been able to sign in online and view my statements. And i have never had auto pay or never given DirecTv a credit card number or anything. I have always sent in my bill via monthly check.

Account? Possibly....Computer? How so? The computer has nothing to do with what can be seen in the online account.

Your account was setup like that before the rules were created so therefor you're fine. New customer's don't have the option to do both anymore.

Not in my case. Have had paper for over ten years, since day 1. But about 2-3 years ago I lost the ability to view bills online. They told me I had to go paperless to get it. Not a big deal. Just sayin what occured.

I think there;s something going on with the website. I have had paperless billing for years, but the last couple weeks I have not been able to see my statements online. I can see the Statement Dates and Amount due, but when i click a specific Month I get nothing.

I used to be able to see my statements for a couple years without problem, but suddenly I can open any of them. I click, I can see the javascript link and nothing on either my current bill or past statements. I can see recent activity without a problem, but not the actual statements.

EDIT:
I thought it might the java out of date and Firefox actually prompted to update, but with the latest update I still can't get the statement to load. I just tried with IE9 and everything came up fine so it sounds like something with Firefox/Directv is acting up or Firefox/Java more likely.

Same here, but I don't like it at all
my only option is to view recent activity which basically shows you last month's bill

To my knowledge, and in the .com area it's pretty limited, I've seen it more often than not where people who had online access and paper billing still had it. It appears however that the rule did go into effect for existing. However I guess the question is why would you want both? If you can have it online you can download it and store it somewhere if you wanted to.

A couple of reasons. First I do prefer the monthly bill in mailbox. With that as backdrop, suppose you are at friends house or office and comparing cable and sat bills. Its nice to be able to go online and look at your past bill for accurate data.

Or sometimes you want to refer a friend. And you are at their house, and the most important thing is your account number. Where is it? On the bill of course. Now I know there is a way to find that on the web after logging in but I end up hunting and hunting to find that one link that shows it.

I could use the online bill lookup 3x-4x per year but have learned to live without it.

Because the paper bill can arrive anywhere from 3 to 5 days, depending on where the weekend falls, after the statement date. There are times when I would like to be able to check my statement, especially after changes have been made, on the date when the statement was generated.

Just an FYI it's under the Account Profile section. The same place you can change your billing address, email and so forth.

I guess I don't understand your post because you're just validating why getting a paper bill is not as good as getting it online. Also you can always view recent activity which will show any changes made after the bill has generated regardless of paperless or not.

Maybe so you can start fighting those pesky "Computer Glitches" early?

I have a paper bill come in the mail, and will keep that as long as I am able to. I would also love to be able to have online access to my bill, but I am not changing to paperless to get it. This is one policy where I think DirecTV is NOT doing their customers a service.

The problem is, when I need it every few months, I don't remember its the same place to change my email address.

You asked us some questions on why, we told you and then you countered and dismissed some of our answers.

We know you work for Directv but great companies listen to their customers and thank them for their input.

Not sure what dismissive statement you're talking about. I just posted an FYI so perhaps the next time you do need it you remember this conversation and have less of a problem.

So far every person I've seen say they want a paper bill because of speed and yet online billing is available the day after it generates which is faster than the mail system will ever be.

If you don't like the policy then call in or send an email and the company will listen and I'm sure they'll thank you for your feedback. Posting it on here where employees may read will not get you the response you seem to be looking for.

I asked just so I could personally understand why people, who have the ability to get an electronic statement easily, would also still want a paper copy. I hate waiting on bills so I just wondered what that reason could be.

With paper billing you get free DirectV Cinema movie coupons, paperless billing you do not.

I get paper bills and Auto-Pay (24 months free HD), but it would be nice if something changes in your current bill and you want to look back a few statements to see what changed and when.

I like having a hard copy of my statement without having to go through the trouble of having to print one out every month, but there are still times when I would like to be able to review that statement before it comes in the mail. And whether that is a choice that you would make, it is still a choice that I have the right to make.
